The merging of the old with the new is seen in this installation of Quatro trough planters at John's College, a residence for students within the Camperdown campus of the University of Sydney.
The planters line one side of the large quadrangle area, surrounded by three-storey buildings designed in the 14th century Gothic style. The charcoal colour of the planters blends with the large pavers on which they sit while contrasting with the sandstone building facades.
The 2.4 metre long troughs are from the Quatro modular series which starts with a cube planter (600mm x 600mm x 600mm). Planters then increase in length in 600mm increments up to 2.4 metres.
