Product Options

At Quatro Design we manufacture to order.  This means we can offer various options when you order from our product range or when we custom manufacture to your specifications.

Colour & Surface Effects

Mineral Oxides

Our standard colours are white, sandstone and charcoal.  White products are made using pure white cement, while the sandstone colours are achieved by adding mineral oxides during manufacture.  This means the colour is all the way through the product.  The images below show examples of the three standard colours.

                               white                                                                  sandstone                                                       charcoal

We use oxides supplied by CCS (Coloured Concrete Systems), and other oxide colours are available on special request.  The oxide colour range can be seen in the CCS Colour Card.

Acid Staining

Painting

Quatro products can be painted to achieve a wide range of colours and effects.  In most instances, water-based paints are suitable.  We've included some examples below of products that have been painted.  The giant flowerpot has had a cement-based paint applied while the trough planters have been painted with a water-based acrylic paint.

Rust Effect & Other Metallic Finishes

Metallic effects are achieved through the application of specialist paints.  The two rust examples below show the effect of a paint rich in iron particles which then had a rust converter applied, while the Zen shallow bowl has been painted with a copper paint and then coated with a  clear gloss coating.

Pitted Surface

Normally Quatro products have a very smooth surface.  But sometimes we are asked to give a product a pitted surface as in the image below.  In this example, the bowl also has the rust effect applied to the surface.

Feet Options

Quatro planter boxes have 5mm high strip feet that raise the planter base off the ground to allow for easy drainage.  However, many planters also have additional feet options to raise the planter box even higher – up to 75mm.  The feet are cast into the base of the planter and inset from the bottom edge (50-75mm depending on the size of the container). Typically they are 120mm square, and taper down to the required height (25mm, 50mm, or 75mm).   Go to the individual product descriptions in the Products menu to see the feet options available.
